It’s festival season, which means you can expect some type of festival to be going on just about every weekend from now until Spring. The Bayou Road Balloon Festival is just around the corner, and you’re going to want to clear your calendar. Back for its 3rd year, this family-friendly festival promises to be filled with tons of fun and an absolute must this fall. Let’s check it out.
The Bayou Road Balloon Festival takes place November 1-3, 2019.
Three full days of non-stop festival fun that the whole family will enjoy.
It takes place at the Frederick J. Sigur Civic Center in Chalmette, Louisiana.
It's perfect since it's not too far of a drive from New Orleans, and the space is perfect for such a fall-friendly festival.
Pilots from all over the country will have their hot air balloons on display.
You’ll see both the traditional hot air balloons and some funky balloons too.
There will be plenty to eat, so be sure to come hungry.
The food court will feature several local vendors selling their delicious dishes. Crawfish beignets, seafood gumbo, and crab cake sliders are just a sample of what’s on the menu.
The festival is jam-packed with live music, too.
Multiple artists will take the state throughout the weekend, so bring a blanket and some chairs and enjoy some local music in this beautiful weather we’re having.
For thrill-seekers, the carnival rides are always a hit.
Crescent City Amusements will have plenty of adrenaline-inducing carnival rides. Single tickets are $1 each and rides costs anywhere from $3-$7. You can also purchase a 4-hour wristband for $25 which will allow you to ride unlimited rides during your time block.
Be sure to swing by the arts & crafts area.
Several local artists will be displaying their goods. From homemade jewelry to wall decor, you're sure to find something you'll want to take home.
Be sure to stick around until dusk, when the balloon glow takes place.
Multiple hot air balloons will light up every evening for the "night glow". This illuminating display takes place at 6:30 p.m. on Friday and Saturday and 5:30 p.m. on Sunday. During this time you can walk among the baskets, meet the pilots and ask questions.
