When most people think of theme parks, places like Kentucky Kingdom or King’s Island come to mind. However, some of the God-fearing people in the Bluegrass State decided it was time for a new kind of theme park to garner attention. Visitors will not find the average amusement park rides, propaganda and entertainment at this new venue. As a matter of fact, you won’t find another place anywhere in the world quiet like this theme park with Noah’s Ark in Kentucky.
What makes this theme park about Noah’s Ark in Kentucky so unique? For starters, Ark Encounter has a massive wooden ark:

The entire theme park is biblically based on Fundamental Christian beliefs.
The owner of the Creation Museum decided to take his ideals a step further and design an entire theme park to compliment the museum and educate the public. Everything in the park references something you can find in biblical stories.
A theme park with morals
There are some positive aspects to a theme park with morals. You won’t be finding rigged up carnival games or things inappropriate for small children. As a matter of fact, unmarried employees are asked to sign a chastity agreement. Hamm runs a tight ship and expects employees to respect the structure the park itself is based on. All employees are required to sign a "statement of faith, agreeing to disavow any pre marital sex or homosexual relations." As you can imagine, there is a bit on controversy, but Ham’s goal is to maintain a rock solid, religiously ethical family fun park.
The Creation Museum
The original museum started by Ham is located at 2800 Bullittsburg Church Road in Petersburg. It features a variety of significant information for the purpose of educating the public to the biblical perspective on creation. They also host exhibitions that change periodically featuring unique tools, artifacts, chalices and other significant religious implements from the past.
The Zoo
The zoo doesn’t feature two of every animal on the planet, like the original story goes, but it does feature a variety of beautiful creatures. Visitors will love the interaction in the petting zoo, as it allows them to actually be a part of the adventure. The little ones will especially love this part of the park.
Theater and a restaurant
A theater is on the grounds that will show visitors a colorful view of the Christian Fundamentalist belief and the creation process. Films show at different times, but times will be available at the facility. You don’t have to leave the grounds to have a nice snack either, as food and drinks are available for purchase.
The main attraction is visible from miles away:

What is getting the most attention is the park’s exact replica of Noah’s ark, as told in the Bible. The ark itself measures 510 feet long, 51 feet high, and 85 feet wide. Inside visitors will find Hamm’s vision of an interactive educational tool, with exhibits answering questions like, "How was the ark built and how many animals fit on board?"
News of this unusual theme park and the controversy it inspires has spread. The Ark Encounter is making headlines across the US, including the NYDaily and Newsweek. The new park is set to open on July 7th in Williamstown. Adult tickets will cost $40 per day, or $99 if you want to come 7 days in a row. Tickets get you into the museum, the zoo and the ark itself. Regardless of your opinion in the ark controversy, you have to admit, it is unusual to have a massive replica of Noah’s Ark in Kentucky. This one of a kind attraction will likely pull in tourism for the commonwealth, and put Williamstown in the public eye.
