Unless you're local to Western Kentucky, you may not have discovered Venture River Water Park. This hidden gem is tucked away in Eddyville and is the only water park in this area of the state. With an incredible new addition this year and plenty of other exciting attractions, it's a great destination for everyone in the Bluegrass State.
Venture River Water Park in Kentucky is very family-friendly with several areas for little swimmers all the way up to thrill-seeking adults. This section, called "Pleasure Island Kiddie Pool," is the perfect spot to relax and cool off. Grab a chair and relax while your little ones splash and play in this area especially for them.
Every water park needs a good wave pool and the 18,000-square foot Hurricane pool doesn't disappoint. Float on a tube or ride the waves on your own in this classic feature. The wave pool is also about to get an upgrade with the addition of a waterfall on its deep end wall.
Near the pool, you have the option to rent out your very own Cabana for the day. Single Cabanas come with two lounge chairs and a lock box or you can really live it up in a Cabana Retreat, complete with a picnic table with four chairs, three lounge chairs, a refrigerator and a ceiling fan.
The rides at Venture River are the main attraction. Options include inner tube slides, head-first racing, and many adrenaline seeking drops, including "Fumbi," pictured below. If you're feeling brave, try the Cliffhanger, or any of their other thrilling attractions.
And after you've tackled all of the adventurous rides, head to Old Man River, an endless lazy river that winds throughout the park. It's perfectly named and wonderfully relaxing and the ideal spot to catch up with family and friends.
One of the newest features at Venture River Water Park in Kentucky is Wipe Out! This area includes a supersized slide house that is five levels high with 3 tunnel body slides, a multilane slide, a crazy cruise slide, 2 flushing buckets, and several other ways to splash and play! It's fun for all ages and a great addition to the park.
For fun out of the water, Venture River has sand volleyball courts, as well as plenty of lounge chairs to relax and people watch. For a bite to eat, grab something from one of many options within the water park, and have a drink to cool off while you're at it. You may pack a picnic lunch, but keep in mind you must enjoy it in the picnic area that is only accessible from the parking lot.
You can also pay a little extra to experience the Air Slides - a 5-point zipline course. Keep in mind, this course is for ages 7 and up and you must wear shoes - no flip-flops allowed! It's a fun way to round out a day of adventure in Kentucky.
