If it's been a while since you've experienced the simple, pure joy that comes from spending a day at the water park in summer, it's time to appease your inner child. Kentucky Kingdom's water park, Hurricane Bay, is the perfect place to do just that. Their water slides and aquatic attractions will put a smile on your face that will last all day. If this sounds like the kind of innocent fun you need in your life, head to Louisville as soon as you can.
Hurricane Bay is a part of Kentucky Kingdom, an amusement park that dates back to the 1980s.
After a temporary closure a decade ago (due to Six Flags' bankruptcy), the park re-opened in 2014, and it becomes more popular with each passing year.
The water park is open from May through September, and it offers a wide variety of fun for all ages.
Smaller children enjoy Buccaneer Beach and the Splash Zone, while older guests enjoy head for the exhilarating slides.
The Deep Water Dive is one of the world's tallest body slides, dropping you 12 stories in only a few seconds.
Deep Water Dive runs 377 feet long with a drop of 121 feet at a 70-degree angle.
Most of the other attractions are a bit more tame, although they're still meant for the adventurous.
There is, after all, a slide called Mega Wedgie.
Other top attractions include the Big Surf Wave Pool, the Deluge slide, and Waikiki Wipeout.
It will take you all day to try everything more than once (and you'll want to).
If you get hungry, you can always stop for a snack.
Kentucky Kingdom is now serving Dole Whip, and it's incredible, especially on a hot day.
And if you'd like to dry off for a while, you can catch a show.
The Sea Lion Splash performs several times daily until mid-August.
Hurricane Bay at Kentucky Kingdom is open daily from 11 a.m. until 6 p.m.
A single adult ticket is $49.95, and if you have an amazing time, you can purchase a season pass.
Address: 937 Phillips Lane, Louisville, KY, 40209
