So we of course can't be positive it's the most-photographed billboard in the country, but we know it's definitely the most famous in the state. It sure seems like this specific billboard is something everyone wants a photo of when they see it. Our fancy and beautiful billboard is certainly one of a kind! Whether you know it as Wheatus or Wheat Jesus, he's here for you.
If you're unfamiliar, let me introduce you to Wheatus, also known as Wheat Jesus. Isn't it majestic?
Right off of I-70, as you get to a small town called Colby, Kansas, you find yourself meeting a billboard unlike any other you've seen.
And of course, you just have to take a photo of it! After all, it's not every day you're met with a painted billboard depicting the Roman version of Jesus just staring out at you. We'd know that long hair and beard anywhere.
This large art piece was painted by a local artist named Phyllis Shanks, and bears no words of explanation. Honestly, we like it better that way.
Though it's a bit mysterious and some find his expression more than odd, it's nonetheless a great place to stop and stretch your legs.
His haunting eyes have been peering out over Kansans since 2009, and we hope it stays that way. At this point, Wheat Jesus is part of Kansas.
If you're ever headed to northwest Kansas, make sure to detour over to Colby for a selfie with Wheatus. He'll never blink!
The Wheatus or Wheat Jesus billboard doesn't have a website or a Facebook page, but maybe the Colby community can get together and create one for fans of this funny Kansas landmark.
