Whether you're excited for spring or planning ahead for summer, we've got some more things you can do at little to no cost to you. This spot in particular needs to be seen to believed. Ready for some weird Kansas stuff? Let me introduce to you one of the coolest natural formations in the state: Rock City. Pack a lunch and grab the family, these boulders are going to rock your socks off!
Rock City here we come!
Rock City is a formation in Ottawa County, south of Minneapolis. There's three clusters of large, spherical boulders.
Don't be looking for any Rolling Stones here!
These rocks are typically called "cannonball concretions" because, well, they're quite round.
They're just sitting a-round!
They were formed from a larger boulder that had lots of harder areas. When weather eroded the softer stone away, it left these round deposits around the original stone.
Talk about being between a rock and a hard place!
As you can see by the man standing on the formations, they're definitely bigger than pebbles. They each range from 10 to 20 feet in diameter, and can easily be climbed by adults and children alike, if you're confident enough.
It's not hard to find beauty here in the gorgeous state of Kansas, and it seems like there's a never ending supply of things to do here, despite many claims. Why don't you check out some of the links below for more things to do here in the Sunflower State?
