2018 is going to be a great year for Kansas City, I can feel it. There's just so much to do and so many places to explore, it's hard to only pick a few out of the thousands of things you can do here every year. Of course, we've covered quite a few, and here's a list of our favorites from the year.
1. Winstead's Steakburgers
There's nothing that screams "Kansas City" more than a burger and skyscraper at Winstead's. Of course, they also make other great classics that you won't find just anywhere anymore.

2. Belton, Grandview & Kansas City Railroad
This amazing little train ride is the perfect day's outing from our busy lives. The trip lasts under an hour, and filled with stunning scenery you can watch out of the open-window 1920's coach. You can even ride up front in the locomotive if you like!

3. The Ultimate Taco Trail
I think every city should have a taco trail, to be honest. Though we didn't hit everyone's favorites, this taco trail won't disappoint when it comes to authentic eats at great prices.

4. Cedar Cove Feline Conservatory
Big cats will always be awesome, and it's extra special when they get rescued from less than favorable conditions to be here. The conservatory is also expanding soon, so every visit gets the word out and brings them even further towards better housing and care for these lovely giants!

5. The Workhouse Castle
Once a jail, city storage, and all sorts of other things, this abandoned castle in Kansas City is a shock for most. It's covered with graffiti and nature is slowly taking over, but it's worth it to explore the grounds during daylight hours.

6. White Tail Trail in Parkville Nature Sanctuary
This 3-mile loop is the perfect place to catch local wildlife or a bubbling little waterfall on camera in any season. Of course, the park itself is one of the most beautiful in Kansas City as well.

7. Museum at Prairiefire
Speaking of beautiful, this museum was carefully decorated with color-changing Dichroic glass developed by NASA. It houses multiple dinosaurs and exhibits you'd normally only find in New York City.

The arboretum in this Kansas City suburb is absolutely stunning in any season. Spring brings hundreds of flowers to life, and fall brings rich color to the trees surrounding the sculpted waterways and easily navigated paths.

If you have any taste for fresh pasta, look no further than Garozzo's. It's one of KC's shining examples of amazing Italian food, and their Chicken Spiedini is to die for.

10. Weird Stuff Antiques
Though you'd expect a bit of mystery with a business name in Kansas City, you'll find nothing like that here. Wierd Stuff Antiques is just that — a collection of odd things that you can rent and/or buy, including many giant versions of common items and more than a couple bikes. You just have to come see what they've got hiding around!

11. Niecie's
Sometimes it's near impossible to get soul food in town without spending an arm and a leg. Of course, Niecie's is always there for you when it counts. Fresh baked pies and fried chicken you can't get anywhere else? Sign me up! It's always a great day when you can treat yourself to a plate of soul food at Niecie's.

13. The Westside Local
These guys make plenty of amazing food, but the grilled cheeses here are some of the city's best. If you're lucky, you can catch more than just their standard menu and grab a plate of special grilled cheeses that you've never tried before.

14. The Santa Fe, Oregon, and California Trail Intersection
Kansas City is known to have a rich history with wagon trail travel, but did you know three different trails meet at this area of Minor Park? It's a physical reminder of where we came from, and how much effort it took to get where we are now.

15. Succotash
Fighting over citrus layer cake doesn't seem so bad when you're surrounded by decor like you'll find at Succotash. They serve some of the best breakfast and brunch in the area, so make sure not to pass it next time you walk by.
