There are plenty of parks in Indiana, but some of them tend to stand out above the rest in terms of beauty, uniqueness, or both. Well, lucky us, because the more the merrier, we say! If you've never been to (or heard of) the Virginia B. Fairbanks Art & Nature Park, it's 100 acres of beauty and fun all elegantly placed together in one space, and it's a blast to visit. It's definitely beautiful and definitely unique, and we think you'll love it! Of all the parks in Indiana you'll want to check out, this one might be toward the top of the list.
It's no surprise at all that this fascinating and beautiful work of modern art is on the grounds of the Indianapolis Art Museum.
When it opened in 2010, it hoped to be a place where families could gather outdoors while still appreciating the arts, and we feel like they totally nailed it.
The entire park is a conglomerate of intriguing sculptures, interactive installations, and lush greenery.
The best part, though, is that everything at this park is climbable, photograph-worthy, and ultra-fun. In fact, touching, climbing, and otherwise admiring the art is recommended here.
Enjoy intriguing trails, untamed forests, and even a 35-acre lake!
Like many art installations, it changes over time as artists and their masterpieces ebb and flow. There's a lot of natural splendor to take in as well; you can even feed some of the amazing varieties of birds that frequent the area.
There are a few non-traditional play areas with traditional play equipment, which makes for an interesting juxtaposition.
Whether you come by yourself or you bring the entire family, a good time is sure to be had by all - especially those who love the arts.
On quieter days, the park takes on a special tranquility.
The Virginia B. Fairbanks Art & Nature Park seems to have many moods. On some days, it's quiet and peaceful. On others, it's boisterous and filled with life.
The park offers guided tours, too!
We certainly feel like this one is one of the best parks in Indiana, and we're eager for you to fall in love with it, too! The Virginia B. Fairbanks Art & Nature Park is open every day from sunrise to sunset, which is easy enough to remember!
