When it comes to amusement parks, newer isn’t always better. This old theme park in Indiana has decades of experience creating memories that will last a lifetime. Here’s why a visit to Indiana Beach Amusement Resort is just the thing for a day of fun and nostalgia.
Indiana Beach is the state’s oldest operating amusement park. It first opened its doors way back in 1926.
Back then, the amusement park was little more than a swimming area in a cornfield.
Over time, it grew to host more than 750,000 visitors annually. Now it offers over 40 rides and attractions, not to mention plenty of games and six rollercoasters.
In fact, three of those rollercoasters are old-fashioned wooden coasters. The Cornball Express was actually voted the best wooden coaster in the world in 2002.
The park also includes a waterpark where you can splash down slides, play under waterfalls, and have a float in the sunshine on the lazy river ride.
Of course, what would a day at the amusement park be without indulgent treats? Indiana Beach offers plenty to choose from, including freshly made pizza, cotton candy, churros, fried Oreos, and their famous homemade caramel popcorn.
There are plenty of retail choices to be made as well, with everything from custom beaded hair wraps to awesome airbrushed t-shirts on offer. You can even get a cool airbrush or henna tattoo.
Can’t bear to leave? You can book a stay on the beautiful coast of Lake Shafer in one of the park’s cottages, private cabins, or campgrounds. It’s the ideal way to extend your fun.
Whether you spend a few hours at Indiana Beach or stay for a week, you’re sure to have an experience that’s the perfect blend of nostalgia and thrills.
