If you've lived in Indiana all your life, you may remember the good old days. Some good ol' days though, are so long gone that no living person has ever experienced them, until these nine historical places. Get back to way things were in the old times with a trip to one of these attractions. Check them out:
1. Amish Acres
Step back into a world of no electricity and growing all your own food. At this authentic Amish attraction, guests will enjoy an 80-acre old farm complete with a restaurant, theatre, and guided tours. Find all the simple and historic fun at 1600 W Market St., Nappanee, IN 46550.
2. Historic Old Fort
Giving Fort Wayne its namesake is a replica of an old fort from 1815. Guests can walk the grounds anytime, or you can visit during an event when period actors are around and reenactments are taking place. It is located at Rivergreenway, Fort Wayne, IN 46805.
3. Angel Mounds State Historic Site
This little-known Native American mound is tucked away in the southern part of the state near the Ohio River. It spans 450 acres and includes a museum to teach visitors about the land's previous residents. Fun events are always happening at 8215 Pollack Ave., Evansville, IN 47715.
4. Parke County
If there's any place in Indiana that will give you a blast from the past, it's the Covered Bridge Capital of the World. Home to more than 30 of these vintage bridges, Parke County is a lovely place to visit if you love driving around and looking at all the sites. 5. Auburn Cord Duesenberg Automobile Museum
Even if you don't love cars, this unique museum will show you something you'll never forget. If you remember the early days of cars, this place will take you right back to your childhood. The museum has three floors of more than 120 antique, vintage, and classic cars. Find it at 1600 Wayne St., Auburn, IN 46706.
6. Conner Prairie
Learn all about the told times at this replica of an ancient Hoosier civilization. Visit the blacksmith, encounter a war zone, and walk the streets of a town that doesn't really exist anymore. This amazing attraction is located at 13400 Allisonville Rd., Fishers, IN 46038.
7. The Indiana Railway Museum
This vintage attraction allows Hoosiers to travel the state in a way many had to in the past in order to get long distances. Enjoy train trips on the French Lick Scenic Railway as you learn all about railroad and Indiana history. Find it at 8594 W. State Road 56, Box 150, French Lick, IN 47432.
8. Indiana State Museum
There's no better place to learn all about old times in Indiana than a museum that's dedicated to it. This place is full of collections that will teach you all about the state's past and give you a deep look into the ways people lived long ago. 9. Chesterton, IN
This charming town of about 13,000 people is stuck in the past. Featuring a vintage town square, beautiful parks, and old-fashioned shops, this is the perfect place to visit to experience old Indiana. It is located in Porter County near Lake Michigan and the Indiana Dunes National Lakeshore.
