Downtown Evansville, Indiana is one of the Hoosier State's best neighborhoods for strolling, shopping, and dining, and during the holiday season, it comes to life with themed decorations, lights, and festivals.
The most exciting time to visit is Saturday, December 7, 2019, when the town will host its annual event known as A Downtown Christmas, which will take place between about 11 a.m. and 4 p.m.
The event will feature free photos with Santa by the fountain, pony rides, caroling, holiday music, kids' crafts, roasted nuts, a photo booth, hot cocoa, and a place to mail your letters to Santa.
Throughout the festival, Main Street will be bustling with its regular traffic of shoppers and diners looking to enjoy the more than 30 shops and 40+ restaurants in downtown Evansville alone.
In addition to the event, Main Street stays festive with its holiday-themed decor, which includes giant nutcrackers, holiday banners and archways, lighted trees, and so much more.
It is worth a walk or drive down this wonderful street several times to make sure you catch all the wonders there are to behold.
Evansville's Main Street is a one-way brick road preserved for its history, and while it offers an elegant day or night out any time of year, it offers something a little extra magical at the holiday season.
