Indiana is full of historical monuments, though they're rarely the calibur to attract national tourists. But did you know that one of the most recognizable pieces of our history - the Statue of Liberty - can be seen in southern Indiana? Of course it's not the real Statue of Liberty, but for a smaller version, it's pretty impressive.
Madison, Indiana is a city in Jefferson County with a population of around 12,000 residents. This historic city is famous for its stunning architecture and historical buildings, as well as the home of Clifty Falls State Park.
It's also home to the Jefferson County Courthouse, which, at first glance, might seem like any other courthouse in the Hoosier state. This one, however, is a little bit more special.
That's because this courthouse is home to a smaller version of the famous Statue of Liberty.
This replica was erected as part of a Boy Scouts of America event, where several replicas were placed around the United States.
While the statue at the courthouse doesn't beat seeing the real one in person, it's certainly a great way to view this historic statue up close. You can find it at 300 E Main St # 300, Madison, IN 47250.
