Her in Indiana, we are well-known for having many haunted spots all across the state. There are also a lot of creepy cemeteries in Indiana that are rumored to be haunted! Here are nine Indiana cemeteries that are sure to give you goosebumps.
1) Crown Hill Cemetery
Did you know Crown Hill Cemetery is actually the fourth largest cemetery in the United States? You can find this cemetery in Indianapolis. It's a fairly well known cemetery because a lot of famous individuals have been buried there.
2) Hays Cemetery or Main Street Cemetery
You can find this cemetery in Wilkinson, Indiana. It is widely known for being a place of paranormal activity. Rumor has it that people used to come to this cemetery to dig up bodies for use in satanic rituals. According to one of the many ghost stories in Indiana, there is a devil child buried here, as a plant continues to grow in the shape of a pitchfork on top of the child’s grave. It is a truly spooky place to visit, especially at night.
3) 100 Step Cemetery
You can find this cemetery in Brazil, Indiana. Rumor has it that there are 100 steps in this cemetery you can walk up. When you get to the top, the ghost of an old undertaker will show you how you will die. If you do not walk back down the steps, the ghost will push you down and you will die on the spot!
4) Batson Cemetery
You can find this cemetery in Warren, Indiana. This cemetery is known for the disappearing stepping stones. You will count 13 when you go in, but only 12 when you leave. For a period of time, people believed these stones to be 13 blank grave headstones. It has since been determined they were just stepping stones. But, where does the 13th one go? The cemetery is also rumored to be haunted by a man who wears ragged clothing and was once the caretaker of a nearby school for the blind.
5) Bennett Cemetery
Some of the headstones in this cemetery in Morristown, Indiana date as far back as the 1800’s. It is a pretty unsettling place and you can feel the history as you walk through the gravestones!
6) Mount Hope Cemetery
You can find this cemetery in Logansport, Indiana. It is one of the most haunted places in the northern portion of the state. Legend has it if you enter the cemetery, you will hear horses even though there aren't any horses anywhere on the premises. You can also whistle while you are in the cemetery and something will whistle back to you! Spooky!
7) Little Egypt Cemetery
This cemetery is located in Bremen, Indiana. It's right smack dab in the middle of nowhere. Legend has it you can throw a nickel on the tombstone of a baby in this cemetery and you will hear the baby cry (just look for the small graves with lots of nickels on them!)
8) Gypsy’s Cemetery (South East Grove Cemetery)
Legend has it there were a group of gypsies that were mistreated by the townspeople in this area and ended up cursing the land where the cemetery resides. You can find this cemetery in Crown Point, Indiana.
9) Justus Cemetery
You can find this cemetery in Oxford, Indiana. It is rumored to be haunted by its own ghost population. The water tower next to the cemetery is believed to be haunted by the same ghosts.
