There are lots of traditions in small-town Indiana. Many of them rely on the season: fall festivals are a well-known and much-beloved example of this. Some towns, however, go a little above and beyond when it comes to end-of-summer shenanigans, like the town of Greenwood. Here, at a little local place known as Freedom Park, there's a brand-new tradition afoot: the first annual end-of-Summer Community Campout! Come check it out - it's the perfect event for a social butterfly to attend.
Freedom Park in Greenwood is so much more than just a city park even on an average day.
The amenities are plenty and the fun is enormous, making it the perfect place for families to bring the kids along and play a while.
On Saturday, September 16th, the first annual Community CampOut turns Freedom Park into a hip, happening campground for a day.
And it's way more than "just" a campground... it's a resort-style campground with all the little luxuries you might expect from a hotel but definitely not at a community park.
The kids will love the playground and the awesome pool with an epic waterslide.
There's also plenty of room for running around and playing, as well as several sports fields, courts, and shelters.
The price is just $50 per campsite, with 50 available.
There is just one tent permitted per site, so plan accordingly. Each site can host up to six campers.
So what is there to do? Plenty!
Check-in is at 3 p.m. and setup commences after that. Come 5 p.m., it's activities time - come out and play! The playground is open, and there will be kickball and lawn games, too.
At 7 p.m., it's time for dinner - hamburgers, hot dogs, potato salad, chips, and drinks are in! Talk about an all-American event.
At 8 p.m., there's a bonfire. And the activities continue from there... we guess you'll just have to experience this one to get the full picture!
The Greenwood Community CampOut is an awesome way to meet up with existing friends and make new ones - the kids will love it, too!
