Spirit of Boise Balloon Festival is an iconic summertime event to which we look forward every year. The popular celebration returns this year bigger and better than ever. Families and friends from all around travel to the Gem State's capital city to witness this colorful extravaganza every year and for good reason. The sight of hot air balloons soaring over the skyline is just mesmerizing! This year's event has been extended to five days from Wednesday, Aug. 28 to Sunday, Sept. 1, 2024, so you have plenty of time to come on down to participate in the fun yourself. Spirit of Boise Balloon Classic is a popular summer festival that's returning in 2024 for its 33rd year.
This balloon festival in Idaho promises to be bigger and better than ever, so you don't want to miss it!
The Spirit of Boise Balloon Classic is scheduled to begin on Wednesday, Aug. 28, and go through Sunday, Sept. 1.
It will take place at its usual location in Boise's Ann Morrison Park.
The event will kick off with CapEd Credit Union Kid's Day on Wednesday, in which kids are invited to jump into the basket and experience what it's like to ride in a hot air balloon.
Called a "tethered ride," the experience is safe and fun for kids of all ages. Balloons will be inflated on the field at 6:45 a.m. for Day 1! Cap Ed Kid's Day begins at 7:45 a.m. to give the kids an opportunity to learn about how the balloons work and have the opportunity to take a free tethered ride!
More than 50 colorful balloons will take off during the festival!
Friday brings VIP Day and Night Glow Spectacular.
Beginning at 6:10 a.m. that morning, pilots will arrive in the park. And at 7:10 a.m., a touching Tribute Launch in honor of Larry Gebert will take place, which we don't want to miss.
Friday's festivities continue with the start of the Nite Glow activities at 5:30 p.m.
Enjoy delicious fair foods, vendors selling their interesting wares, and dance to the live music.
Friday is also when you can enjoy the incredibly popular Nite Glow Spectacular, which begins at 8:05 p.m.
We are officially counting down the days until we get to enjoy this popular hot air balloon festival.
Saturday brings the exciting Competition Day with pilots arriving in the park at 5:30 a.m.
Finally, Sunday brings the Last Dance and closing festivities.
