1. Bayview
Bayview is a charming small town located in the panhandle and along the shore of Lake Pend Oreille. Not only will you feel tucked away from it all when in this mountain town, but the small-town feel and slower pace will make it easy to forget about the hustle of daily life.
2. Yellow Belly Lake, Sawtooth Mountains
Yellow Belly Lake is nestled in the foothills of the Sawtooth Mountains. However, there are not any main roads to reach this lake so the best way to visit? On a hike. There is an easy 3.8-mile out-and-back trail to this peaceful destination, giving you plenty of time to immerse yourself in nature — it’s the perfect destination for a quiet day outdoors.
3. City of Rocks National Reserve, Almo
City of Rocks National Reserve is a delightful destination no matter the time of year with hiking, rock climbing, and camping opportunities all around. The unique rock formations create incredible views and the remote location makes it easy to find peace and quiet.
4. Silver Creek Preserve, Bellevue
You’ll feel like you’ve truly escaped when you visit the Silver Creek Preserve. This area is not only gorgeous, but it is home to all types of wildlife, including more than 150 species of birds. Spend some time fishing, walking along the boardwalk, or just sitting back and enjoying the views — it's a day trip destination with so much to offer.
5. A Hot Spring
With more than 130 soakable hot springs in Idaho, there are dozens of options for a relaxing and peaceful soak. While there are many hot spring resorts such as Lava Hot Springs or Burgdorf Hot Springs, there are others that you must hike to access. 6. Eagle Pathways Trail, Eagle
If you are looking for something that isn’t too far from the city, visit the Eagle Pathways Trail. This paved trail takes you along a river, is flat, and is less than two miles. You’ll enjoy beautiful views and may even catch a glimpse of wildlife. Plus, if you want even more of a challenge, there are dirt and gravel trails that stem off the main trail.
7. Route of the Hiawatha Bike Trail, Northern Idaho
The Route of the Hiawatha is a rail trail in northern Idaho that is unique, beautiful, and unforgettable. This trail is 15 miles and takes you through 10 tunnels, over seven steel trestle bridges, and more. You will also travel through some of northern Idaho’s most stunning landscapes. This journey is peaceful, beautiful, and memorable.
8. Fall Creek Falls, Swan Valley
There are many waterfalls around the Gem State where you find a little peace and quiet, but one of our favorites is Fall Creek Falls. Near Swan Valley, this scenic 60-foot cascade into the Snake River is stunning. Plus, the scenery around the cascades is mesmerizing as well, making it easy to forget about your worries.
9. Harriman State Park
Harriman State Park is one of Idaho’s largest state parks. Located near Island Park in southeastern Idaho, this state park is within a 16,000-acre wildlife refuge in the Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem and it is known for its beauty and wildlife. There is plenty to do here to help you find peace and quiet including hiking, horseback riding, mountain biking, camping, cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, and so much more.
