The United States’ involvement in World War II was extremely profound, but perhaps nowhere was the war more impactful than in Hawaii, especially considering the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor on December 7, 1941. It’s no surprise that the island of Oahu is home to several incredible memorials, museums and monuments commemorating the massive sacrifice made during World War II.
And while we feel deep sorrow while visiting the USS Arizona Memorial, and intense fascination while exploring the USS Battleship Missouri floating museum, there’s one museum so unique it deserves its own feature: the Home of the Brave Brewseum.
Part World War II museum, part bar and 100 percent unique, the Brewseum is perhaps one of Kaka’ako’s best kept secrets, and an absolute must-visit for anyone who loves history - and beer.
Family-owned and operated, the Brewseum was opened in the summer of 2014, but the story goes back much further than that…
The Home of the Brave Museum was established in 1995 as a one-room, private museum, and has since expanded - it is now home to a unique collection of World War II, military, Hawaiiana, and beer memorabilia spread amongst ten unique areas.
Often regarded as the most exclusive World War II military base tour in the world, Home of the Brave Tours - founded in 1991 - allow guests an exclusive look at Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam, Wheeler Army Airfield, Schofield Barracks, Fort Shafter, the Punchbowl National Cemetery of the Pacific, and more.
With six unique craft beers on tap, their Wiki Waki Woo 1940s Tiki Bar, a killer lanai with sunset views, and fascinating memorabilia, the Brewseum is the perfect place for a low-key night out, whether you’re military stationed on Oahu, or a local resident.
While the establishment was once meant to be merely a brewery, the Brewseum has since become recognized as the best ranked Brewpub Licensed establishment on the island of Oahu.
The Brewseum is located at 901 + 909 Waimanu Street, Honolulu, Hawaii, 96814.
