A wistful affection for the past is perhaps most felt while amongst vintage items and antiques. Due to Hawaii’s unique history, the islands are full of amazing relics of the past, most often found in antique shops. Here are eight of the best shops on the islands.
1) Tin Can Mailman
Located in Honolulu is this lovely antique shop specializing in all things vintage Hawaiian, including antique aloha shirts, tiki-themed souvenirs, bright vases and vintage pinup-girl posters.
2) Pagoda
Located in Kapaa is this cozy antique store full of antique teacups, kitchenware, postcards, vintage purses, quilts, mirrors, side tables, and more! Everyone on Yelp swoons over the owner’s eye for design.
3) Discovery Antiques
Located on the outskirts of Kona among coffee plantations is this small shop that specializes in Hawaiian antiques and nostalgic products of a bygone era. And if you’ve worked up an appetite with all that shopping, they also serve some mouth-watering ice cream or coffee.
4) Ali’i Antiques
With TWO shops located in the center of town, there is something to be found for everyone at Ali’i Antiques. The first shop carries everything from European art to American pottery, and everything in between, while the second shop focuses on all things Hawaiiana – with collectibles dating back to the 1920s.
5) Paia Trading Company
Located in the hip surfer town of Paia, this little shop showcases everything from vintage knick knacks and small household furnishings to costume jewelry and even a collection of old comic books.
6) Yellowfish Trading Company
While you will feel as though you have stepped into the past when you walk through Yellowfish Trading Company’s doors, the store features antiques, vintage items, and even some modern products as well. The owner refreshes inventory weekly, so each visit is a unique experience.
7) Antique Alley
