You don’t have to travel very far to see some amazing, mind-blowing places in the state of Georgia. This state is filled with beautiful scenery, towering mountains and incredible views. In fact, one of the most underrated spots in Georgia, probably has the most unbelievable views around. Now, I'm not talking about views from a mountaintop where you can see for miles in every direction. I'm instead talking about those jaw-dropping views that both scare and satisfy you at the same time. I'm talking about Okefenokee Swamp.
This shallow, peat-filled swamp sits at 438,000 acres and straddles the Georgia–Florida border. It is a protected wildlife refuge, and home to hundreds of different types of species, all in their natural habitat. What makes Okefenokee Swamp so mesmerizing is that you can see a variety of animals and mammals all in their wild ways, something you wouldn't normally see if you went to the zoo or an enclosed habitat.
Take a look at some jaw-dropping photos from Okefenokee Swamp. These are photos that can simultaneously shock you and leave you in awe:
What makes Okefenokee Swamp so fascinating is the untouched, undisturbed land.
Not to mention the aerial views, which showcase the natural wonderment of the area.
There is a stillness about the swamp that engulfs you.
But also some man-made structures for you to find solace.
On a spring day, there's no better adventure you can take.
But you may come across a few wild creatures, those of whom have taken up residence in the swamp.
A Red Shouldered Hawk, surveying the land.
A nested vulture waiting for prey.
A Great Blue Heron taking flight.
A Barred Owl, staying silent.
Then there are the reptiles and amphibians...
...casually living life in the cool waters.
You'll see them hiding in the shadows hunting for food.
Or waiting on an embankment, as still as can be.
It's quite terrifying to be so close to the oftentimes ferocious predators.
But that doesn't mask just how beautiful the swamp is...
...and why it's a perfect place for Georgians to spend the day.
Now that is what Georgia is made of. Those beautiful swamp photos are just the beginning of what Okefenokee Swamp has to offer. Have you visited the swamp? Let us know about your experience!
