From Athens to Macon to Savannah, there are certainly plenty of beautiful college campuses here in Georgia. A visit to Athens must include a visit to the University of Georgia campus, which is incredibly gorgeous. It has several historic buildings and a variety of gardens to explore. Even Atlanta's Emory University offers something unique. It's a college that looks like a castle, and it feels like walking through an old British campus. Macon's Mercer University is filled with lovely gardens. And, of course, the Savannah College of Art and Design sprawls across magnificent downtown Savannah. It's clear that we have no shortage of special college campuses dotted throughout the Peach State. However, one truly stands above the rest. Berry College, a college that looks like Hogwarts, has the largest campus in the world. And, it's remarkably stunning.
Hogwarts certainly wouldn't look out of place on this magnificent campus! This private Christian college was founded in 1902 and has the largest contiguous campus in the entire world, with over 27,000 acres.
The campus is located in Mount Berry, just outside of Rome. This is such a striking part of the state and practically everywhere you go, you'll be surrounded by mountains and woodlands.
Berry College consistently ranks among the most beautiful colleges in the country, and it's really no wonder why.
Additionally, several TV shows and movies have been filmed on campus, including Netflix's hit series Stranger Things.
Another fun fact is that most of the buildings here were built during founder Martha Berry's lifetime. She passed away in 1942 and directly oversaw the operations of Berry College while she was alive.
The Frost Chapel is one of the most striking buildings on campus. Its stone construction and hilltop setting make it a popular location for weddings.
Much of the campus is open to the public, and there are over 80 miles of trails available for hiking, mountain biking, and horseback riding.
