Times may be tough, but you can still have a great time in Florida. We'll bring the fun (and the wine), all you have to do is visit!
1. Watch the Blue Angels Practice in Pensacola
March through November at the National Naval Aviation Museum you can watch these amazing pilots practice for their air shows for free. You also get free admission to one of the largest air and space museums in the world.
2. Play at Daytona Beach
You can choose from any of our many beautiful beaches, but Daytona Beach is a good choice because of its Sun Splash Park. It provides extra fun for little ones with a splash fountain and a shaded playground.
3. Window Shop in Fernandina Beach
Amelia Island's Fernandina Beach has a lovely downtown with cute shops and lots of family friendly restaurants. You can also take a stroll through the historic district or go sightseeing, all for free.
4. Marvel at the World of Orchids in Kissimmee
This park features over 1,000 orchids in a jungle-like setting in a greenhouse covering three quarters of an acre. Visitors can also take a nature walk through the wetlands on their 1,000-foot boardwalk.
5. Stroll Through the Harry P. Leu Gardens in Orlando
On the first Monday of every month you can get free admission to this "50-acre botanical oasis" in Orlando. There's free storytelling for little ones on these days as well.
6. Hunt for Bargains at the World's Largest Flea Market at Flea World in Sanford
This massive flea market has been open for 40 years and is scheduled to be closing after the 2015 season, so check it out while you still can!
7. Explore Disney's Dream Town
Celebration is a cute town near Walt Disney Resort that was designed by the Disney Development Company to create a perfect town in line with Walt Disney's vision. It's a pretty little town and especially interesting for huge Disney fans.
8. Find Your New Favorite Wines in Clermont
You won't be disappointed if you make a visit to Lakeridge Winery and Vinyards outside Orlando. It's the largest premium winery in the state, and it's free to tour and taste several wines. If you're closer to St. Augustine, check out its sister winery, San Sebastian.
9. Test a Local Legend in Lake Wales, FL
Legend has it that anyone who parks at the bottom of Spook Hill and puts their car in neutral will roll up the hill. Spooky, indeed.
10. Celebrate the Sunset
We love to have fun in Florida, and we'll find almost any reason to party. So in Key West and Clearwater, even the sun setting is good enough! Crowds gather a couple hours before sunset to watch performers and hear live music. And when the sun goes down, the party is just beginning!
It's getting harder and harder to find awesome free things to do, so please let us know if you have any others you'd like to share!
