From ghosts haunting Belle Isle to creepy, old cemeteries, these places and nine others have made a name for themselves when it comes to seeing frightening ghosts. 1. Elmwood Cemetery

Elmwood Cemetery is said to be one of the most haunted places in Detroit. This is the site of the Battle of Bloody Run, an ambush by Chief Pontiac's army on British soldiers. The blood of the dead British soldiers would run into the creek, turning the water red. It's also one of Michigan's oldest cemeteries.

2. Two Way Inn

Colonel Philetus Norris, who is said to have never left this dark, old dive bar, established the Two Way Inn in 1875. His ghost is said to be keeping an eye on the place from arson.

3. Belle Isle at Lake Tacoma

There is an old legend on Belle Isle of a Native American girl who was sent to the island to protect her beauty from suitors. She was lonely and even after her death, it's said that she still haunts the bridge near Tacoma Lake. It's also said that she usually takes the form of a white deer.

4. Majestic Theatre

It's said that magician Harry Houdini wanders the Majestic Theatre. He gave one of his last performances here in 1926 before he passed away.

5. Alhambra Apartment

In 1905, cook Rose Barron was demoted to scrubwoman and didn't like it one bit. She secretly added arsenic into biscuits and poisoned 40 families; two people died. It's said that the two who passed still haunt the apartment building.

6. Masonic Temple

This beautiful building is said to have its fair share of creepy and haunted things happen. From slamming doors to spooky noises, everything that ghosts like to do to scare the heck out of people has likely happened here.

7. Fort Shelby Hotel

A drunken man named Al spent nights harassing people at the Fort Shelby hotel, that is until he drowned in the hotel basement when it flooded. He's said to still haunt the outside of the hotel.

8. Leland Hotel

The Leland Hotel was once one of Detroit's best hotels in the late 20s, but is now known to be terrifying with a Goth/industrial nightclub lurking in the basement. The fourth floor is completely closed off and the hotel looks like it belongs in a horror film.

9. Historic Fort Wayne

There was never a bloody battle or any battle to begin with at Fort Wayne, however, it did house displaced people from the Great Depression and the 12th Street Riots. The historic area is rumored to house some of these restless souls.

10. The Whitney

There have been numerous occurrences of supernatural activity on all of the floors of the Whitney mansion. These paranormal activities are said to have occurred because of stories of owner David Whitney Jr. and his wife both dying in the home. To this day, people believe he still haunts the gorgeous mansion.

11. Boblo Boat: Ste. Claire

The 107-year-old boat used to take passengers to Boblo Island but now sits on the Detroit River waiting to be renovated. It's said that many ghosts haunt the boat and the old crew's quarters.
