The idea of a monster hiding out is scary, but there's one monster in Delaware that actually puts a smile on all faces who meet him! The Dover Motor Speedway is home to a truly unique attraction in Delaware. Curious? Make plans to attend a race at "The Miracle Mile" and you'll come face-to-face with one of our most beloved characters.
While the Dover Motor Speedway is best known for hosting NASCAR events and a variety of other can't-miss experiences, there's one additional reason we love visiting.
The Speedway has been referred to as "Monster Mile" for as long as we can remember. That's why it's unsurprising that the track named "Miles the Monster" as its mascot in 2000.
However, this isn't the sort of mascot you might expect to see wearing a bear suit running around a college football game.
Undoubtedly, Miles is different than any other mascot you know. Built in 2008, the gigantic statue greets guests from 46 feet above them.
He's made of fiberglass and his large stature makes him the tallest fiberglass statue in the world!
Despite running out of room for his legs, the builders created this guy to weigh a whopping 20 tons.
The glowing red eyes and the sheer magnitude of the statue are enough to drop your jaw. But, get up close and you'll see he's somehow quite friendly.
You can visit Miles the Monster any time at the Dover Motor Speedway. But, he's quite popular during a big race so start preparing for crowds in your selfies! For more information on attending a race, be sure to check out the official website. You can also follow them on Facebook.
We're pretty proud of this unique attraction in Delaware, but there are quite a few other things that are special. Here are 11 things you'll only find here!
