The turbulent history of the Delaware coast is fascinating, and even to this day, ships wreck along the coast. Our state has had its fair share of pirates, lost treasures, mutinies and more in the waters offshore, and the Discoversea Shipwreck Museum hosts one of the largest collections of recovered artifacts in the country.
It would be easy to pass by the Discoversea Shipwreck Museum, but if you did, you'd be missing out on one of Delaware's greatest treasures!
You can find the Discoversea Shipwreck Museum at 708 Coastal Hwy., Fenwick Island, DE 19944.
Inside, you'll find over 10,000 artifacts from shipwrecks on display - and that's only about 20% of the museum's full collection!
(The rest of their artifacts are on display throughout the world.)
Here, you'll find canons and treasures that were recovered from shipwrecks off of the Mid-Atlantic Coast.
It's fascinating to see the things that have been dug up! This carving was made from human bone.
No maritime museum is complete without a huge display of pirate-era weaponry. Looking at these guns will make you feel like you've stepped back in time.
There's no limit to the discoveries you'll find here, and a trip to this mesmerizing museum will be a highlight of any trip to Fenwick Island.
