You've undoubtedly heard of Dallas - Fort Worth North Pole Train Rides and beautiful Christmas Light walking tours, but how about an evening boat ride that lets you see some amazing holiday lights from the water? If you are looking for a different way to spend an evening looking at lights, without having to fight crowds or wait in line to even enter an exhibit, check out this affordable option:
Lynn Creek Marina offers a half hour Prairie of Lights Boat Cruise on Joe Pool Lake during the holidays.
Passengers board a pontoon boat.
Of course it will be decorated with holiday cheer!
Half the fun is seeing what other decorated boats are in the harbor.
While you're are at it, you can also enjoy a mild Texas winter evening.
You never know what the Christmas spirit may bring for other boat owners, like this one from a recent night parade on nearby Lake Granbury.
Hot chocolate will be served and seasonal music sets the tone for a fun trip for all ages as the journey begins toward the light display.
Instead of waiting in line to drive through the beautiful displays...
...passengers enjoy a leisurely front-row view!
Many sail boats decorate their masts while anchored out in the lake to enjoy the calmness of the Texas night.
Cruises operate on Fridays-Sundays and are available every half hour from 7:00 P.M. to 9:00 P.M. Cruise tickets are $15 per person (children ages 13 and under are free), or you can reserve a private pontoon boat for your group for a flat rate of $100.
The marina is located at 5700 Lake Ridge Pkwy. in Grand Prairie. For more information about the cruises offered by Lynn Creek Marina, head over to their website. You can reserve your seats by calling (817) 640-9830.
Don't forget to check out the Prairie Lights website for more details on the festive event!
