There are plenty of things to do and places to go in Connecticut. Mystic Aquarium and Seaport, Beardsley Zoo, and Lake Compounce rank up there as the most popular destinations but what about some of the lesser-known, one-of-a-kind spots? The Nutmeg state has those too and these unique attractions are some of our favorites.

1. Frog Rock Rest Stop, Eastford

Frog Rock Rest Stop has been a roadside attraction for decades. Once just a few picnic tables and a painted rock, this spot now has so much more. 2. Rowanwood Farm Llama Hiking, Sandy Hook

There are plenty of incredible hiking trails in Connecticut, but what could be more unique than exploring them with a llama by your side? That's right, you can go llama hiking for an incredible forest adventure that will leave you bragging about it for days. Rowanwood Farm is a USDA licensed and approved llama hiking facility. 3. Alice In The Village, Mystic

One of our favorite attractions is an enchanting Alice In Wonderland themed tea room in Mystic. This charming spot celebrates everything from the storybook. 4. Great Falls, Falls Village

Referred to as the Niagara Falls of Connecticut, this natural wonder is definitely worthy of a visit. Its beauty is jaw-dropping and always photo worthy. 5. It Adventure Ropes Course, New Haven

Looming 60 feet in height, this epic ropes course will get your heart pounding. IT Adventure Ropes Course is the world's largest and is full of climbing adventure. 6. Butterfly Encounter, Hartford

There is no other place in the state quite like the Butterfly Encounter at the Connecticut Science Center. The magical space is filled with 40 different kinds of butterfly and 30 unique plants. 7. Old Drake Hill Flower Bridge, Simsbury

One of the most beautiful spots in the Nutmeg State is the Old Drake Hill Flower Bridge. This pedestrian crossing is adorned with 62 flower boxes and 32 hanging baskets that showcase a spectacular display of color. 8. Uncle Buck's Fish Bowl & Grill, Bridgeport

Everyone has been bowling at least once, but perhaps not at an alley that looks like its underwater. Uncle Buck's Fish Bowl & Grill has only a handful of locations across the country and luckily one is right here in Connecticut. Try your luck at bowling a strike in this ocean-themed alley and then grab a bite to eat at the restaurant that is an ocean lovers dream come true. 9. Steep Rock Preserve, Washington Depot

10. Action Wildlife Foundation, Goshen

Animal lovers will be excited to visit this wildlife park. Take a drive-thru safari and then wander the grounds to visit the animals up close.
