This historic building was constructed in 1812.
During the War of 1812, this building operated as a jail for British prisoners. It remained a jail for more than 100 years. In 1992, it became a treatment center for men serving prison sentences. It reopened as a rehabilitation center in 1994.
Today, the building is home to one of the most scrumptious restaurants in Litchfield.
When you dine at Market Place Tavern, you'll notice that many of the original jail cells are still intact.
