Castles are a must to prove your state has hosted greatness. But Connecticut boasts more than just the classic stone walls. There are also mansions and estates, equipped with all the modern furnishings your heart desires, but all the architectural lure and design of the 1700s. And the best part is that most of these castles in Connecticut can be used for weddings and parties. Nothing says classy like toasting champagne in a centuries old tower, am I right?
1. Bill Miller's Castle, Branford
As fas as castles go, this place has seen a lot of vows. But how could you pass up the chance to start your happily ever after here?
2. Lord Thompson Manor, Thompson
This stunning home is where dreams come true. Just walking the grounds is enough to get you smiling.
3. Chrismark Castle, Woodstock
This place was built in the 20th century by local millionaire Christopher Mark. It could be yours for 45 million dollars!
4. Castle Craig, Meriden
If you're brave enough to go to the top of the tower, you'll be able to see the Long Island Sound like never before.
5. The Branford House, Groton
This house is actually a mansion. It sits on the UConn Campus and is totally available to rent.
6. Gillette Castle, East Haddam
As part of the state park, this sits high above the river and is a great place for a romantic picnic.
7. Hearthstone Castle, Danbury
This beauty is tucked away, which means it's probably harboring more secrets than the average castle.
8. State Capitol, Hartford
So this isn't a castle in the traditional sense, but you can't deny those towers.

9. Yale University, New Haven
So now I've broken the "rules" twice, but visiting Yale is basically visiting Hogwarts. The spires and stained glass windows will make you feel like a true wizard.
I'd love to know if you've made a trip to any of these wonders yet. And whether or not you'll be inviting me to any of your castle festivities. I'm a great dancer!
