Have you ever heard of rail biking (which is very different from a traditional railroad ride) or tried it yourself? As the name suggests, it consists of riding a bike along an old railroad line, which may seem strange. But is actually incredibly fun and exhilarating! Are you ready to try it for yourself? If so, follow us to beautiful South Fork, Colorado:
Welcome to Revolution Rail!
This is one of the most popular outdoor activities in Colorado.
Beginning at the old South Fork Station, your Revolution Rail adventure starts with a safety briefing and instruction.
And then it is time to hop on your bike and hit the rails. Let the outdoor exercise adventure begin!
Featuring double and quadruple rail bikes, each excursion includes your bike and a tour guide.
Together you'll enjoy six miles (out and back) of jaw-dropping landscapes a la dramatic vistas, forests, and the Rio Grande River.
While the ride is known for being fun and stunning, it is also historical, as the bikes run along the deserted Denver and Rio Grande Railroad line.
The Denver and Rio Grande Railroad line. was in operation from 1870 to 1992 and boasted the highest mainline rail line in the country.
Please note: Rail biking is deemed accessible for nearly all ability levels and ages.
This makes it a great activity for the entire family.
In addition to the standard six-mile rail biking excursion, Revolution Rail offers an exciting Pedals to Paddle package.
It comes complete with rail biking along the Rio Grande PLUS rafting on the Rio Grande River! Pedals to Paddle is only available on certain weekday trips.
Just look at these gorgeous views!
Enjoying the beautiful Colorado landscape doesn't get much better than this!
So, if you were to do a search for “rail biking near me,” this spot would most certainly pop up at the top of the list!
