I may be a tad biased but I happen to think there is no better place to be during the holidays (or year round) than the Centennial State! As a Colorado native myself, I happen to have a few reasons for thinking this and have 14 more reasons why I'll always come home for the holidays:
1. Colorado's purple mountain majesties...
2. ...Front Range...

3. ...and Eastern Plains all look even more stunning when covered in snow.
4. (It's a regular winter wonderland!)
5. Colorado towns both big and small go all out with festive light displays...

During the most magical time of year, main streets across the state are all aglow in beautiful Christmas lights, creating traditions we look forward to all year. Salida is a Colorado go-to for outdoor fun, shopping, art, and culture all year long, but come Christmastime, it is a go-to for ...
... it's dazzling main street!
Featuring lights galore, parades, and more, Salida is a true Christmastime treasure that you will want to share with your family.
In fact, Salida may be one of our favorite Christmas towns in Colorado. While all of Salida at Christmastime is memorable, our favorite part of all has to be their one-of-a-kind Christmas mountain, which features an iconic 750-foot-tall "tree" with 5,000 glistening LED lights and photo opportunities you will not find anywhere else.
Like we said ... there's truly nothing like Salida, Colorado during the holidays. It'll put even Scrooge himself into the holiday spirit.
This year's Christmas Mountain Lighting & Parade Of Lights takes place the day after Thanksgiving starting at 6 p.m. The tree will remain lit each night until January 5, 2025. Visitors can enjoy not only the lighting of Christmas Mountain, but also a spirited parade, cookies and hot chocolate, and extended store hours at the businesses lining the street.
Salida is definitely one of the most magical Christmas towns in Colorado. Come and soak up the holiday spirit!
