What's your favorite way to cool off when the temperatures start to soar? Beach days are great and nothing beats a dip in a lake, river, or swimming pool, but we're here to show you a way that you can keep cool while also making unforgettable memories. The Truckee River is a river in Northern California that's especially treasured for its recreational opportunities. Located nearby is an adventure company that has made it their mission to make floating down the Truckee's relaxing waters as easy as possible, and we think they do a great job. Check out this family-friendly float trip for a unique and fun outing!
Family-owned and operated since 1973, Truckee River Rafting has been helping outdoor enthusiasts float the Truckee River for several decades. Based out of Tahoe City, it's high time you come on out and spend a day on this beautiful river!
Truckee River Rafting offers a self-guided raft trip with its large fleet of commercial-grade rafts. Known for its tranquil stretches and its mountainous surroundings, floating the Truckee River makes for a relaxing adventure in a downright breathtaking setting.
The raft experience typically takes about two to three hours, so come prepared with a cooler of snacks and drinks to enjoy while you float (keep the styrofoam and glass at home, though.) Floating the Truckee is a delightful experience that's suitable for the whole family - kids between two and five years old float for free!
You'll begin your adventure at Tahoe City where you'll grab your raft. Rafts are available that can hold up to two, four, six, and eight people. You'll then set off onto the river, paddling over small rapids and past gorgeous scenery all the way.
The trip ends at the River Ranch Restaurant, so feel free to pop in for something to eat after your day on the Truckee. The riverfront restaurant boasts great food and drinks, and was even voted "Best Happy Hour" in North Lake Tahoe.
Rafting season usually takes place from June through September, although that can change depending on river conditions. With an average water temperature that bobs between 65 to 70 degrees Fahrenheit, the river's waters are perfectly refreshing for those hot summer days.
There's always a great time to be had on the Truckee River! Just remember to float responsibly and keep this pristine river free of pollution. Visit the Truckee River Rafting website for more information and to reserve your spot on the river.
