Southern California is full of wonderful landscapes that are a treat to the eyes. And there's nothing more breathtaking than experiencing the beauty of SoCal on a scenic tram ride that takes you straight to the top of one of our stunning mountains with soaring views of the valley. Take a look at this thrilling adventure.
The adventure starts as soon as you jump in the car and head to Valley Station in Palm Springs. There's Mt. San Jacinto right in front of us. What a beauty!
To reach the top of Mt. San Jacinto for one of the best views in SoCal, just hop on this tram at Valley Station and it will take you straight to the top of the mountain.
But this isn't just any average tram. The Palm Springs Aerial Tramway is the largest rotating aerial tramway in the entire world. Yes, you read that right -- the world.
As the tram ascends and descends the mountain, it rotates a full 360 degrees for a truly stunning panoramic view.
Here's a look inside one of the trams. Take a look at the floor and you can see where the tram rotates as it travels up and down Mt. San Jacinto.
In only 10 minutes you'll climb over 8,500 feet and reach the top of San Jacinto Peak.
On the way up you'll be in awe of the soaring views of the Coachella Valley. On a clear day the view is almost endless.
The adventure doesn't stop once you reach the top.
In some ways it's just beginning...
For starters, you'll find over 50 miles of hiking trails that will take you through the untouched wilderness.
The Nature Trail and Desert View Trail are two scenic options.
No matter what trail you choose - from a short half-mile hike to something a bit more strenuous - you won't be able to resist the scenery...
Especially when you come across this remarkable view!
In addition to hiking, you'll also find restaurants, a cafe, and observation decks. Grab an outdoor table and gaze at that mesmerizing landscape.
Or wander out to the observation deck and be inspired by this natural setting.
It's definitely an adventure the whole family will appreciate.
If you can stay after the sun goes down, you'll be rewarded with a magnificent sky and a spectacular display of twinkling city lights off in the distance. There's really nothing else quite like it.
The Palm Springs Aerial Tramway is located at 1 Tram Way Palm Springs, CA 92262. It's open seven days per week and runs approximately every half hour. Tickets can be purchased online or at the station the day of your arrival. Tickets are $25.95 for adults/$16.95 for children under 12.
