4. Take in the beauty of Balboa Park.
For those of you seeking an urban adventure, a day trip to Balboa Park is an essential SoCal experience not to be overlooked. 5. Escape to Catalina Island.
Nothing captures the magic of SoCal like a day trip or a weekend getaway to Catalina Island. And we must confess, half the fun is taking a scenic and relaxing ride on the ferry so we can soak up the soaring views and that heavenly ocean breeze.
6. Hike to Mt. Rubidoux.
There's something about the view from the top of Mt. Rubidoux Memorial Park that is beyond breathtaking. Like a backdrop from a movie set, the view will take your breath away as you head up the trail toward the World Peace Bridge and Tower. It's magnificent! 7. Discover a hidden swimming hole at Big Falls Trail.
Hikes and waterfalls are two things we simply can't resist, which puts this outdoor adventure in SoCal at the top of our list. Big Falls Trail, located in the Santa Lucia Wilderness, is quite the sight to see as it's one of SoCal's biggest waterfalls. Take a hike along the 4.4-mile trail but proceed with caution as we hear the trail can be challenging. After you complete the hike, you can reward yourself with a refreshing dip in the water. 8. Kayak through the La Jolla Sea Caves.
Kayaking through the La Jolla sea caves in SoCal is pretty much heaven on earth. Perfect for an adventure on the water, this thrilling outing will show you a side of Southern California you've never seen before.
