There are a lot of great places in SoCal, but unfortunately the region has its share of dangerous places as well. One of the most well-known roads in Southern California also has a reputation for being among the most dangerous. There's a section of this road that is one of the riskiest places to drive in this part of the state. Perhaps you've traveled down this area many times before, but this is one place you'll want to be careful. After seeing the dangers that exist on this road, you might think twice about taking this route next time!
The name "Mulholland Drive" in Los Angeles conjures up images of mansions, celebrities, and stunning views of the city. David Lynch's cult classic film of the same name ensured that the name will live on in history.
However, as well-known as scenic Mulholland Drive may be, many people don't know that there's another road in the state with a similar name. Mulholland Highway is much more rural than its Drive counterpart, and also a lot more dangerous. One stretch along Mulholland Highway that is halfway between Malibu and Calabasas attracts thrill seekers looking to race along the winding road. Irresponsible drivers often love to fly down the twisting path at breakneck speeds. The result is a staggering number of fatal and injurious car accidents on this section of Mulholland Highway.

On the weekends, you'll find this spot buzzing with motorcyclists and sports car drivers. Many love showing up in this area for a day of racing. Unfortunately, some of these drivers end up with a crashed vehicle. Even worse, some of them are even less fortunate and face a fatal scenario. Street racing is prohibited here, but that doesn't seem to prevent drivers from testing the speed limit.
This road is such a popular destination for street racing that it has become a hot spot for photographers and videographers. They show up to capture footage of the cars and motorcycles in action as they navigate the winding road.
Not only are many of the races captured on camera, but many accidents have been filmed as well.

Why We Love It: It's taken several trips for me to figure out my perfect "weekender bag that's TSA approved," but I've found my perfect carry on with the TOBIQ Colorado 30L. And let’s not forget about Liberty Public Market, a true destination within a destination. Located within Liberty Station’s oldest barrack that housed San Diego’s Naval Training Camp, this marketplace could be a day trip in itself. It is home to restaurants, bars, coffee and bakeries, candy and popcorn boutiques, and a host of specialty shops selling soaps, olive oils, jewelry, records, and more.
Of course, Liberty Station is also a place to relax and unwind. Some 48 acres of scenic parkland are perfect for leisurely picnics, long walks, enjoying some family downtime, and catching gorgeous sunsets.
