To reach the trail to the Bridge to Nowhere, you can park at the lot of Shoemaker Canyon along Shoemaker Canyon Road. Head down the dusty trail and it will lead you toward the trailhead.

This historic arch bridge that spans the East Fork of the San Gabriel River was built in 1936. When it was built, it was originally constructed as part of the road that would create easy access between the town of Wrightwood and the San Gabriel Valley.
However, before the project was completed the East Fork Road, the road that was being built to lead to the bridge, was completely washed out by the great flood of 1938. After the flood, the bridge was stranded in the middle of nowhere without any road to connect it to. Hence the name Bridge to Nowhere as the bridge literally leads to nowhere.
Today the bridge is nestled inside what is known as the Sheep Mountain Wilderness. Over time is has become a popular hiking spot for locals and tourists who want to see the Bridge to Nowhere in person.
In addition to being a popular destination for hiking, the Bridge to Nowhere is also known as an adventurous spot where people can take part in bungee jumping.
