If you're looking for a great place to hit the water but don't want to travel too far, head down to Chautauqua County and you'll be greeted with open arms by the quaint hamlet of Findley Lake, just north of the Pennsylvania line. No matter when you visit, this gorgeous natural wonder is the perfect place to escape everyday life without breaking the bank.
Findley Lake is a beautiful 292-acre lake located in southern Chautauqua County. The lake is well known for fishing, with several species of fish – from Northern Pike and Walleye to Smallmouth Bass – present in its waters.
There are two public access boat launches for motorized boats and canoes at the northern end of the lake in the village of Findley Lake. The lake itself reaches depths of 38 feet, with an average depth of 11 feet and 5.5 miles of picturesque shoreline.
In the village of Findley Lake, you can treat yourself to shopping, dining, and recreational activities. Be sure to check out the "Our Own Candle Company" outlet shop for unique home goods and homemade candles. The parking lot outside the store is also used for several local festivals in the summer months!
Speaking of festivals... if you're lucky enough to be at Findley Lake for the 4th of July holiday, you can grab front row views for the Boat Parade, where Findley Lake residents and visitors go all out with their boat float decor!

3. See the works of art at the Albright-Knox Art Gallery.
There are plenty of places around Buffalo where you can enjoy art, but the Albright-Knox Art Gallery happens to be our favorite. Founded in 1862, the Albright-Knox gallery has been showcasing amazing works of art for Buffalonians for ages and is more than worthy of being on your bucket list.

Offering a variety of tours throughout the year, the complex was completed in 1905 and is known for being one of Frank Lloyd Wright's most amazing projects.
7. See the natural beauty at the Buffalo and Eerie County Botanical Gardens.
If you're ready to take a break from the typical cityscapes, heading over to the Buffalo & Erie County Botanical Gardens is always a great idea. Open all year long, the beautiful glass building houses a variety of flowers, plants, and lush scenery. Architecture, architecture, architecture! We can't help but love all the architecture in Buffalo. Ellicott Square is an Italian Renaissance office building with a lobby that looks like it belongs in a movie. When it was constructed, the 10-story Ellicott Square Building was the largest office building in the world!
Don't underestimate the lovely parks that you'll find in Buffalo. Covering 350 acres, Delaware Park has waterfront walks available all around Hoyt Lake. During the spring, their Japanese Garden comes to life in time for the Buffalo Cherry Blossom Festival, which is definitely a must-see.
