From the man made wonders to the natural ones, the Natural State is truly a breathtaking place. You could spend years looking at all the beautiful sites in Arkansas and never run out of things to see. Luckily, these seventeen places can be explored in just a few hours. Since some of these places are fairly close together, you could group them into weekend trips and explore them all this summer.
Please note, William Jefferson Clinton Presidential Library and War Eagle Cavern are temporarily closed.
1. Anthony Chapel (Hot Springs)
Anthony Chapel is located in the gorgeous Garvan Woodland Gardens, so there is a ton of wonder to be found there.
2. William Jefferson Clinton Presidential Library (Little Rock)
Browse the stacks, admire the architecture, and visit the museum.
3. White River
This river is 722 miles long and flows from the Boston Mountains, up into Missouri, and winds through Arkansas until it enters the Mississippi River.
4. Old Spanish Treasure Cave
Located on Highway 59 between Gravette and Sulphur Springs, it is believed that Spanish Conquistadors found gold and hid it in this cave. No one has yet found it, and it’s fun to explore even if you don’t believe the treasure is there.
5. Hemingway-Pfeiffer Museum (Piggot)
This is the family home of Ernest Hemingway’s second wife, and there is a barn on the property that was converted into a studio.
6. Garvan Woodland Gardens (Hot Springs)
Garvan Woodland Gardens comes complete with a beautiful chapel, a canopy walk, and wonder all around.
7. Twin Falls
This gorgeous waterfall, which should sometimes be called triplet falls, is located at Camp Orr near Harrison.
8. Lake Chicot State Park (Near Lake Village)
This is Arkansas’s largest natural lake, and it’s a gorgeous place to enjoy the beauty of the delta.
9. Roark Bluff
Roark Bluff is one of the most beautiful places on the Buffalo National River, which is a really beautiful place anyway.
10. War Eagle Cavern
This cavern is located on beautiful Beaver Lake, and you can take a sixty minute guided tour to explore gorgeous rock formations.
11. Pinnacle Mountain
There are plenty of things to do in Pinnacle Mountain State Park, but the cone-shaped mountain is the real draw.
12. Old Mill Park (North Little Rock)
The Old Mill gets most of the attention, but the whole park is absolutely spectacular.
13. Petit Jean State Park
The park has twenty one miles of hiking trails, waterfalls, and a natural bridge. And just look at that view!
14. Ozark National Forest
The Ozark National Forest comprises 1.2 million acres of forested land, and every inch is stunning.
15. Rice Fields (Delta)
There’s nothing quite like the beauty of the expansive Arkansas delta. Add to that the fact that Arkansas when you’re looking at Arkansas rice fields, you’re also looking at the biggest rice producing region in the nation, and the view seems even cooler.
16. Lake Ouachita
To find one of the cleanest lakes in America, go to the Ouachita National Forest. Lake Ouachita is also the largest manmade lake in Arkansas. Just look at how pretty it is.
17. Hemmed-in-Hollow Falls (Buffalo National River, near Ponca)
The National Park Service says this is the "tallest waterfall between the Rockies and the Appalachians," and it is definitely one of the most stunning sites in Arkansas.
