Anyone ready to de-stress a little? Let me tell you, I am. To fill that need I’ve made a list of fourteen of the most picturesque places in the Natural State—and all fourteen of them are perfectly dreamy locales where you can watch your stress float away on the autumn breeze.
1. Triple Falls
Triple Falls is sometimes called Twin Falls, because unless you go after heavy rainfall, you’ll only find two falls. This picture perfect spot is located in the Buffalo National River Wilderness Area near Camp Orr.
2. Devil’s Den State Park
Devil’s Den is basically 2,500 acres of pure wonder, and it’s about as picturesque as state parks come. There are plenty of trails you can explore, and dreamscapes are waiting around every corner. You’ll find it at 11333 AR-74 in West Fork.
3. Little Rock’s Riverfront Park
Little Rock has put a lot of care into developing its riverfront, and the park they’ve built there has become one of the most scenic areas in our capital city. Set beside the gorgeous Arkansas River, there’s plenty to explore. You can do just that at 202 La Harpe Boulevard in Little Rock.
4. Beaver Dam
Beaver Lake is an incredibly scenic place, of course, but we can’t neglect the wonder that makes this lake possible. The dam at Beaver Lake is a marvel all its own. You’ll find this wonder on Highway 187 near Eureka Springs.
5. Downtown Van Buren
Located in Crawford County, you won’t find a more adorable little main street than in Van Buren. This downtown area offers lots of charming shops and restaurants, and plenty of photo ops with awesome old buildings.
6. Shores Lake
Shores Lake is located near White Rock Mountain, which means it’s remote enough to make you feel like you’re a million miles away from all your troubles. In addition to the remoteness, you’ll find a lot of incredible beauty. You can explore Shores Lake by going to AR-215 North near Mulberry.
7. Pinnacle Mountain
There’s no mountain in the world quite like Pinnacle Mountain. Its unique shape is definitely inspiring, and you’ll love the beautiful color there right now. You’ll get there by driving to 11901 Pinnacle Valley Road in Little Rock.
8. Eureka Springs
This Victorian village looks like the town time forgot. Nothing will make a dreamer out of you like wandering through the quirkiest town in the Natural State. You’ll find Eureka Springs on Highway 62 in Carroll County.
9. Smith Creek
Smith Creek might be small and unassuming, but it’s got loads of natural beauty. Smith Creek is located on a 1,226 acre preserve, and you’re not going to find a more dreamy scenic spot. You’ll find Smith Creek Preserve in Newton County.
10. Roark Bluff
Roark Bluff is on the Buffalo National River, and it’s a perfectly beautiful place to gaze up at that unique bluff face. There’s really nothing quite like the bluffs in the upper Buffalo River region. Roark Bluff can be found near the Steel Creek Campground near Ponca.
11. Historic Washington State Park
If you're looking for a way to escape back in time, look no further. Historic Washington State Park is exactly what you need. This picturesque neighborhood full of restored buildings and artifacts wants to ease all your troubles by taking you back to the early 1900s. You'll find it at 103 Franklin Street in Washington.
12. Mildred B. Cooper Memorial Chapel
If You Only Have One Day to Visit This Small Town in Maine, Here’s Everything You Absolutely Can’t Miss
If You Only Have One Day to Visit This Small Town in Massachusetts, Here’s Everything You Absolutely Can’t Miss
If You Only Have One Day to Visit This Small Town in Maryland, Here’s Everything You Absolutely Can’t Miss
Located in Bella Vista, Mildred B. Cooper Memorial Chapel is truly one of the wonders of the Natural State. Designed by E. Fay Jones, the chapel is an exceptional place to find a little peace and wonder. Mildred B. Cooper Memorial Chapel is located at 504 Memorial Drive in Bella Vista.
13. The Old Mill
The Old Mill is a reproduction, so it isn’t quite as old as it looks. It is every bit as picturesque. Surrounded by the gorgeous T.R. Pugh Memorial Park, this old mill’s sole function is to be a beautiful place where you can while away the afternoon. You can find it at 3800 Lakeshore Drive in North Little Rock.
14. Transfiguration Chapel on Petit Jean Mountain
The Transfiguration Chapel is part of Camp Mitchell, a ministry of the Episcopal Church. Camp Mitchell’s website says you’re welcome to meditate and pray there. One thing’s for sure—if you can’t have a dreamy experience in an open air chapel on top of one of Arkansas’s most scenic mountains, I don’t know what the next step in your de-stressing journey should be. Transfiguration Chapel can be found at 10 Camp Mitchell Road in Morrilton.
