Good things really do come in small packages! And if you need proof, you’ll find it in Norman, which is home to one of the nation’s tiniest libraries. Small in size only, the book nook is bound to make a big impression.
With less than 400 residents, the tiny town of Norman probably isn’t on your radar – but it should be!
And that’s because it’s home to the Norman Square Library, one of the smallest libraries in America.
The tiny library, which was built in 1939, is the centerpiece of the Norman Town Square.
Despite its size, the library is a pretty big deal.
Not only is it listed on the National Register of Historic Places, but it once held the Guinness Book of World Records title for the "smallest free-standing public library in the country."
Because of its notoriety, it should come as no surprise that Norman Square Library has been visited by literary lovers from near and far.
Its guest book has been signed by people from all over the world.
And though the library hasn’t been expanded over the years, its book collection has.
When first opened, the 14 x 14 building housed roughly 500 books. Today, there are about 3,000 books. The library also includes two computers and a printer with wi-fi.
Unique and brimming with charm, the tiny Norman Square Library is definitely worthy of its BIG reputation! So, what do you think? Ready to visit the Norman Square Library?
