Folks may think of the south as a slow-paced place but we certainly have our share of thrilling adventures. Not only is the Iron Horse the longest zipline in Arkansas, it's also the fastest and the tallest! Ride the line at Horseshoe Canyon Ranch, an authentic dude ranch in Jasper. Let's zip to the ranch and see this jaw-dropping adrenaline ride.
Horseshoe Canyon Ranch is one of the many treasures to discover in Jasper.
This tiny town might just be one of the best kept secrets in Arkansas, and the Ranch is one of the biggest reasons why! Tucked in the Ozark mountains, this western-style dude ranch has lodging, tours, and endless activities. We've covered this vacation spot before but today's highlight is on one particular horse here - the Iron Horse.
The Iron Horse is one of the top ziplines in all of North America!
The towering zipline was built at the Ranch in 2012. It's record holding for being the tallest, fastest, and longest zipline in Arkansas.
If you're not quite up to riding the Iron Horse, then try out some of the Ranch's "milder" activities like swinging...
Everyone likes swinging, right? If the extreme ziplining is a bit too much to handle, then tackle The Big Swing instead! There's a smaller zipline here too, the Pony Express. It's a modest 600-ft. that's great for any nervous beginners.
...or crossing a bridge.
In addition to the traditional dude ranch activities like horseback tours, Horseshoe Canyon also offers a plethora of thrilling adventures. The sandstone rock climbing routes are some of the highest rated climbing areas east of the Rockies. They have trails for all levels including this steel cable bridge.
So what can you expect while riding the Iron Horse?
The zipline is about half a mile long and begins with a vertical drop of 277 feet. You'll fly 2,300 feet over the canyon and be over 300-ft. high! At the fastest point you'll be zooming over 50mph too! The zipline is certainly heart pounding but the length of the tour gives you enough time to remember to open your eyes and enjoy the ride.
Don't assume you have to plan your Horseshoe Canyon Ranch vacation during warmer weather. There's plenty of time for chilling, thrilling adventures, too!
Any season is a good season to visit the Ranch! You can start your planning by visiting their website right here. You can also see the activities in action by following their Facebook Page.
