One of Arkansas’ nicknames is "The Natural State," and it’s easy to see why: mountains, valleys, rivers, and bayous stretch across the land and make the state one of the most diverse, geographically speaking. It contains Hot Springs National Park, which showcases the beautiful hot springs in Arkansas. This is also where you’ll find the Grand Promenade, one of the coolest trails in the state.
Grand Promenade is short, being only 0.7 miles in length, and it is paved, so it’s a great choice for anyone looking to get some fresh air.
The trail does go through some forested areas, showing hikers the characteristics that gave Arkansas the nickname of “The Natural State.”
There is a lookout point above a valley that drops down and stretches as far as the eye can see.
The Hot Water Cascade is a great place to stop, because here the water flows down a series of rocks instead of bubbling up from the ground.
Grand Promenade is most unique because it takes hikers past Bathhouse Row, which is a collection of eight bathhouses built between 1892 and 1923.
Some of the bathhouses have been restored to their original glory, and others are used for cultural centers and other interactive spaces.
These unique structures seem like something out of a European fairytale, and to see them in Arkansas is a real treat.
There are signs along the trail that inform visitors about the history of the area and how/why it became Hot Springs National Park.
The signs also offer information about the bathhouses and their history.
Hot Springs National Park is located at 369 Central Avenue in Hot Springs, Arkansas. Have fun and happy learning!
