There’s nothing better than an adventure, is there? Especially one that ends with the discovery of a treasure trove! The bookstore we’re talking about today is more on the scale of a dragon’s hoard than the simple "discount store" title indicates. If you’re looking for gently read books here in the Natural State, there is one spot that proves itself to be a favorite of both bargain hunters and readers alike. Read on for more information about this can’t-miss spot.
Located in Little Rock’s lovely River Market district, the Bookstore at Library Square is affiliated with the Central Arkansas Library System.
Readers are welcome to browse through the literary gifts and collectibles, too, but the main draw of this bookstore is the thousands upon thousands upon thousands of gently read books.
Just how many gently read books are you going to find on the shelves of the Bookstore at Library Square? The answer, roughly, is a whole mess of books.
A whole entire mess. Two heaps and a bushel basket, if you want to know.
The most precise measurement of how many books you’ll find there is about three floors full.
The Bookstore at Library Square isn’t housed in just any old building, either! The Cox Building began its life as a warehouse for Thomas Cox and Sons Machinery Company.
Built in 1906, the space was converted to a bookstore large enough to accommodate the needs of the Central Arkansas Library System in 2001.
The building also holds two meeting rooms, which means you might find yourself attending a Friends of the Library event there. Did we mention Friends of the Library get a 20% discount?
The Bookstore at Library Square offers customers a chance to spend countless hours in the stacks.
There’s a fairly good chance you’ll get lost in there, and isn’t that what readers want most of all?
The Bookstore at Library Square is open Wednesdays through Saturdays from noon until five p.m. You can learn more about the bookstore on their website or you can follow along with them on Facebook at this link.
