The holiday season is upon us with Thanksgiving only a few days away. The added stress may have settled in, but that doesn't mean we can't have a good laugh about it. Giggle along as we predict what to expect this winter if you're in Arkansas.
1. School closings when there's just a powdering of snow.
Usually, that first snow in Arkansas results in a snow day, even if it was less than an inch.
2. That house with too many inflatables.
It's rather depressing driving by this house during the day and all the characters are flat. Need some variety, folks.
3. Your aunt's Christmas village display.
Okay, maybe not necessarily an aunt, but there's at least one family member with a horde of these little houses.
4. The redneck decorations.
Shotgun shell wreath, camo-clad Santa, target practice deer with a tangle of lights... Arkansans certainly aren't lacking in creativity when the holidays roll around.
5. Traffic backed up in the rich neighborhood to see the lights.
Getting the whole family packed into the car to creep along in the cul-de-sacs is a holiday tradition.
6. Crowded stores until New Years.
It's not even Black Friday yet, but the crowds have already reached claustrophobic levels.
7. That one guy wearing shorts.
We could have just had another ice storm but "Chris" doesn't care.
8. Empty bread and milk aisles.
Next week's forecast predicted a small chance of light wintry mix so you can bet the bread aisle is going to look post-apocalyptic.
9. Driving out of the way to see that one house.
You know what house... the one with the elaborate light display and sound show. The local news does a piece on them every year, and you absolutely HAVE to take a look for yourself.
10. Knowing to expect the upcoming stress but loving it anyway.
Sure the holidays come with added anxiety, but spending time with family and feasting on delicious cooked meals makes it all worth it.
