Sam's Throne may be one of the most popular climbing spots in all of Arkansas but that doesn't mean you have to be a skilled rock climber to enjoy the view. This area does have a trail that doesn't require ropes and rappelling for the more mild adventurer in the state. Let's head to Mt. Judea take the roundabout way to reach the top of this iconic formation.

Some of us prefer to just rely on our legs and not ropes when ascending to the top of an Arkansas vista. Thankfully, Sam's Throne has a lovely ropeless hike to the top of the rocks.
Hikers can still have an adventure and reach the top of Sam's Throne without having to leave the ground.
The 2-mile trail is rated as moderate and will take some exertion. No ropes or bouldering skills are needed but know that the trail does have over 300-ft. of elevation gain. For directions to the campground and trailhead, use this map.
