I’ll be honest. This list was inspired by my favorite pulled pork sandwich, which comes from an amazing gas station in my hometown. Gas station food gets a bad rap, but that’s an underestimation of the fantastic food you can find there. There are plenty of delicious restaurants inside gas stations right here in the Natural State, and they shouldn’t be overlooked just because they’re so convenient and reasonably priced. Below you’ll find a list of 10 gas station restaurants you're sure to love.
1. Conway Central Station
With a kitchen open from 7 a.m. until 1:30 p.m., Conway Central Station serves a full menu at both breakfast and lunch. From fried chicken to light and fresh salads, you’re sure to find something to love at 900 Locust Street in Conway.
2. The Filling Station Restaurant (Eureka Springs)
The Filling Station isn’t a gas station, but that gas station theme is so prevalent you’ll feel like you’re eating in one. This restaurant serves breakfast and lunch, has a blue plate special, and offers a buffet to meet all your fresh-cooked meal needs. It is located at 2055 East Van Buren in Eureka Springs.
3. Kountry Xpress (Mulberry)
Do not let the name or appearance of this small truck stop fool you—Kountry Xpress serves up some of the best Indian cuisine you can find anywhere. If you’re not into Indian food, they also offer some American options, but if you haven’t tried Indian food, do it. Try it at Kountry Xpress, a gas station in Mulberry, located at 1107 Georgia Ridge Drive just off of exit 24 on I-40.
4. Hillbilly Hideout (Ozark)
This travel center is a one stop wonder. You can fill up your gas tank, grab some snacks for the road, and have a delicious meal. They’ve got all kinds of delicious southern-cooked goodness on their menu, and friendly service to boot. You can find them at 3202 Pence Lane in Ozark.
5. Pinnacle Station Local Market (Rogers)
You’ll find rustica pizza, beautiful gourmet groceries, takeout dinners, and an enormous salad bar at Pinnacle Station Local Market. This Rogers staple serves up absolutely delicious food and you’ll definitely find something exceptional to eat there. It’s located at 2000 Promenade Drive in Rogers.
6. Pig Trail Bypass Country Cafe (Elkins)
The Hooshburgers at this café are famous. They're part of what has drawn so much attention to this little country store, earning it places on lists like "Best Southern Bites" from Southern Travel + Culture. They’re located at 4223 AR-16 in Elkins.
7. Jack’s Restaurant (Fairfield Bay)
You can get three hot meals a day at Jack’s in Fairfield Bay. Their menu is full of sandwiches, burgers, and hearty Southern breakfast items to die for. They’re located at 540 Dave Creek Parkway in Fairfield Bay.
8. Red Mule Food Mart & Gas Station (Highland)
From chicken to barbecue sandwiches to $5 pizzas, you can get all your favorites at the Red Mule. This little gas station provides some fantastic daily specials that will keep your belly full while you fill your tank. They are located at 1706 US-62 in Hardy.
9. The Short Stop (Garfield)
The Short Stop is a favorite of Garfield locals because of its amazing soft serve ice cream and absolutely fantastic daily specials. You can find the Short Stop at 18440 Marshall Street in Garfield.
10. Hilltop Travel Center (Alma)
Conveniently located right off of I-49, Hilltop Travel Center offers a delicious menu. You can eat all three meals right in the travel center, and each one is just the kind of home style cuisine Arkansans love. You can find them at 8265 AR-282 in Alma.
