We're about two weeks away from a fun new festival in Northwest Arkansas. Fayetteville will be hosting a superb hot air balloon festival called SOAR NWA on August 24th, 2019. This all-day event will have all sorts of aeronautics activities and well-grounded entertainment, too. Let's jump right in and see what all to expect at this dreamy festival.
SOAR NWA will begin a new tradition for summer fun in Arkansas.
The event is a fundraiser for Open Avenues. This local group works to provide life and job skills training for people with disabilities living in NWA. Tickets for this event are $10 for adults and $5 for those ages 10 and younger. You can find more information by visiting the SOAR NWA website.
About 10 balloons will be on display at the event. Balloons will be up in the morning and after sunset.
Don't just expect the typical round-style balloons. The Wells Fargo Stagecoach is one of the more unique balloons making an appearance. Tethered balloon rides will be available with weather permitting and will be wheelchair accessible.
All sorts of entertainment will be happening at the festival.
Find a new favorite at the beer garden or stroll through the car show while you're at SOAR NWA. The Kid Zone will have inflatables, face painting, and other activities for all ages. You'll be able to spot performers from the Arkansas Circus Arts throughout the airfield, too.
Performers will be on stage throughout the day.
Magicians, Island Pacific dancers, and tons of music are all part of the entertainment line up. Bands include Tater, Mater, and Squash; The Trashcan Bandits; Jenna & The Soul Shakers; and more! Be sure to stay for the headliner, Randall Shreve & The Devilles.
Mild balloon rides aren't the only way to see the sky at SOAR NWA.
Family-friendly helicopter rides will be offered by flyARH for only $20/person. Skydive Fayetteville will have skydiving available as well! Skydiving will be tandem and for ages 18 and up only. If you'd rather stay grounded, you can cheer on the skydive performance set for 6 pm.
The festivities will conclude with a beautiful balloon glow.
The balloon glow is set for 8 pm followed by a fantastic musical performance by Randall Shreve & The Devilles. We certainly hope this new fest will "take off" and become a successful fundraiser for years to come. To stay up-to-date on the latest news and schedule, follow the SOAR NWA Facebook Event Page.
