Some of the Phoenix Zoo’s wildest animals come alive after dark, and you can spend the night with them. Filled with hikes, s'mores by the campfire, and plenty of four-legged friends, this unforgettable adventure deserves a spot on your bucket list. Check it out:
Opened in 1962, Phoenix Zoo is the largest privately-owned, nonprofit animal enclosure in the U.S. It boasts more than 1,400 animals, 2.5 miles of walking trails, and special events such as overnight camps.
Themed night camps are held on special days throughout the year, and groups can also set up private experiences at any given time. Guests enjoy a freshly-grilled dinner, embark on hikes, and get up close and personal with zoo animals.
Gather round a raging campfire to share ghost stories, laughter, and fun facts about your favorite critters. Make some new friends or reinforce connections with family members.
Nothing comforts the soul quite like homemade s'mores on a chilly fall evening. All ages delight in the taste of buttery graham crackers, rich chocolate, and gooey marshmallows.
Sleeping arrangements are typically pop-up tents that accommodate between three and five people each. Awake at dawn, just as the four-legged residents do, gently drawn out of sleep by waterfowl honking their good mornings.
A continental breakfast will be served as fuel for a guided hike. Afterwards, explore the zoo at your own leisure all day long!
An exclusive night camp is coming up for the zoo's annual "Howl-O-Ween" celebration. Perks include early admission, a BBQ dinner, souvenir water bottle, and all the aforementioned happenings. Families may have to share a tent with other groups during this event.
Visit the zoo's website or Facebook page to learn more.
