If The Little Mermaid played as big a role in your childhood as it did ours, this festival is for you. Mermaids are coming out to play next month in Tucson, and it promises to be a magical experience for all in attendance.
Every summer, Return of the Mermaids puts on a real-life rendition of everyone's favorite Disney movie.
The event will be held on August 10, 2019, and this annual tradition is beloved by those with tails and land legs alike.
As you can see, the parade is kind of a big deal.
People gather from all over the state to shop the Mermaid Market, enjoy yummy food trucks, listen to live music, and - of course - meet the stars of the sea themselves.
Participating businesses deck their storefronts out from floor to ceiling, transforming downtown Tucson into a whimsical undersea paradise.
Extremely gifted local artists share their talents and painted vibrant masterpieces on windows all along 4th Avenue.
Mermaids dressed in their finest, most realistic attire will have you convinced that these mythical sea creatures have come to life.
Wear a tail of your own to blend in and step into character, even if only for an afternoon.
Your little tadpoles are more than welcome to join in the fun!
Their active imaginations will run wild as Neptune, Poseidon, and Ariel parade down the street. The event heads in a more grown-up direction around 9 p.m., but younger visitors will have tons of fun during the daytime festivities.
Vendors set up shop up and down the street, offering handmade crafts, jewelry, clothing, and pretty much anything else your heart could possibly desire - all nautically themed, of course.
The festival will take place along 4th Avenue in Downtown Tucson on Saturday, August 10 from 3 p.m. to 11 p.m. Mark your calendars!
