Aside from the parties, food, and spending time with loved ones, one of my favorite parts of Christmas in Arizona is seeing all the decorations spread around town. Boughs, ribbons, twinkling lights, and a host of other decorations make our towns and cities look so festive during this chilly weather! Here are a few main street and downtown displays that really elevate the holiday charm this time of year.
1. Bisbee
Bisbee is already a charming town, so add some colorful string lights and chilly weather to the old buildings and you have one beautiful street! If the town happens to get snow, like it did earlier this year, it looks even more amazing!
2. Clarkdale
There's no doubt about it -- Clarkdaleis one pretty little town! There’s nothing that quite says you’re home for the holidays like trees wrapped in colorful lights along the main streets.
3. Glendale
When you attend the daily Glendale Glitters event held in downtown Glendale, you can witness the area come to life with music, activities, live entertainment, and millions of lights. You'll love being able to say you experienced one of the best holiday events in Arizona!
4. Mesa
Mesa has a downtown center that has changed quite a bit since my early 1980s memories, but if there’s anything that gets better with time, it’s the holiday decorations. You’ll find Main Street all decked out and even some cool entertainment.
5. Scottsdale
What happens when you combine the city of Scottsdale with some beautiful holiday decorations and a month-long celebration? You get Scottsdazzle which sees downtown Scottsdale absolutely shine with incredible decorations, live entertainment, and events for all ages.
6. Sedona
You’ll find the lovely streets of Sedona decorated and a towering Christmas tree standing tall over at Canyon Breeze Plaza. You can also check out a ton of other events happening around the city every year that are all about celebrating the season. Once you see this lovely town, you'll certainly agree that it's one of the best Christmas towns in Arizona.
7. Tempe
Tempe is definitely far from being a small town these days but if you want a hint of that small-town charm without leaving Phoenix, check out Mill Avenue during the holidays. You’ll find hundreds of lights adorning the tree-lined streets, live music, and plenty of happy faces.
8. Tombstone
For an understated dedication to holiday cheer, you should check out Allen Street in Tombstone. The town does an excellent job reminding you of the season while staying true to its Old West roots.
9. Williams
Route 66, which goes right through Williams, gets all decked out this time of year with twinkling string lights that shine against the neon signs and green boughs. It's the perfect place to spend winter in Arizona.
