The Foley Railroad Museum is housed inside the historic Louisville and Nashville railroad station, which was built in 1909. It's one of Alabama's best train attractions and welcomes visitors of all ages.
This historic museum is home to a variety of railroad memorabilia that'll remind you of Foley and Baldwin County's early railroad days.
Without a doubt, the most unique feature of the Foley Railroad Museum is its "O" Gauge Model Train Exhibit, which was donated to the city of Foley by Mr. Alan Goldman in 2004.
The museum's "O" Gauge Model Train Exhibit measures 24' X 60' and has a quarter mile of track. It includes 84 freight cars, 50 passenger coaches, and even an impressive replica of the L&N Hummingbird. Train enthusiasts of all ages enjoy this exhibit.
The layout of this model train exhibit, which is reminiscent of the 1950s, is filled with such great detail.
For example, the exhibit features a Main Street USA, which includes a fire station, a bus station, a church, and a city park. There's also a farm, a sawmill, and a coal company.
Another impressive detail about the "O" Gauge Model Train Exhibit is the Hub Drive-In. It's playing "Thunder Road," which is a movie starring Robert Mitchum.
